These pieces represent my most recent work. They were born out of a long series of black and white paintings, then suddenly color exploded. I’m painting both on canvas and paper. The work makes references to classic images that are interpreted autobiographically. "Birth of Anacaona" based on "Birth of Venus" represents the birth of a Taino princess. The Tainos were the native Dominicans.
